Herbal Skin Renewal
Botanical resurfacing, selected according to the skin.
Herbal Skin Renewal is a botanical approach to exfoliation and skin resurfacing using the professional Alex Cosmetics Herbs2Peel method.
Rather than relying on conventional acid-based peeling alone, a specialised blend of dried herbs is worked over the skin using controlled manual techniques. The physical action of the botanical particles provides exfoliation of the epidermal surface, with the intensity of the treatment determined by the condition of the skin and the level of renewal required.
I work with three levels of Herbal Skin Renewal, allowing treatment to range from gentle, no-downtime renewal through to a more intensive corrective peel.
Level One — Beauty Peel
Gentle renewal with little to no downtime.
The Beauty Peel is the introductory level of the herbal peeling method and is designed to refresh and refine the skin without intentionally producing visible peeling. The herbs are worked gently over the skin for a shorter period, providing controlled surface exfoliation while maintaining a relatively gentle treatment experience. I may choose the Beauty Peel when the skin would benefit from improved texture, clarity and radiance without the recovery associated with a deeper resurfacing treatment.
It is also an important way for me to observe how an individual's skin responds to herbal resurfacing before considering progression to a more intensive treatment.
Downtime: Minimal to none.
Renewal level: Gentle.
Level Two — Phyto Peel
A more active approach to botanical skin renewal.
The Phyto Peel sits between the Beauty and Corrective treatments, allowing me to intensify the herbal treatment while still avoiding the significant peeling period associated with the Corrective Peel. Different Phyto protocols can be selected according to concerns such as congestion, sensitivity, visible redness, premature ageing or sun-related changes. Australian Herbs2Peel material describes targeted Phyto protocols including Clear, Calm, Energizer and Restore. This makes the Phyto Peel particularly useful when I want more than a gentle surface refresh but do not consider a deep corrective peel appropriate.
Downtime: Generally minimal, although individual skin responses vary.
Renewal level: Intermediate.
Level Three — Corrective Peel
Intensive herbal resurfacing with a planned recovery period.
The Corrective Peel is the deepest level of the Herbs2Peel method. The botanical preparation is worked more intensively into the skin, producing significant exfoliation of the upper epidermal layers over the days that follow. Visible peeling commonly begins around the third day, with the main renewal process occurring over approximately five days, although every skin responds differently. I may consider this treatment for appropriately selected skin where more significant correction of visible texture, congestion, pigmentation, photodamage or post-acne changes is desired.
Because this is a considerably more intensive treatment, skin assessment, preparation, prescribed home care and post-treatment support form part of the process. The official protocol includes specific home-care products during the peeling period and a follow-up treatment after approximately five days.
Downtime: Approximately five days of progressive skin response and visible peeling may occur.
Renewal level: Intensive.
