Skin Resurfacing
Supporting the skin's natural process of renewal.
The epidermis is continually changing. New keratinocytes are formed within its deeper layers before progressing towards the surface, where they mature and eventually become part of the protective stratum corneum. Skin Resurfacing treatments works to increase cell turnover correcting and refreshing the epidermis using a range of methods from light exfoliation to deep penetrating peels using both chemical and herbal preparations.

Why Skin Renewal?
At different stages of life, the processes of epidermal renewal can be influenced by age, environment, inflammation, lifestyle, hormonal change and the condition of the skin barrier. When appropriate, controlled exfoliation can help refine the accumulation of surface corneocytes and support a smoother, more even appearance. Skin Renewal may be considered where there is concern with:
uneven texture
congestion
dullness
visible pigmentation
post-blemish marks
rough or thickened surface texture
signs associated with environmental and chronological ageing
The intention is not simply to remove layers of skin. It is to consider what the skin needs, how resilient the barrier is, and what level of intervention is appropriate at that particular time.
Not every skin requires intensive exfoliation. The strength, frequency and type of renewal treatment are selected according to the individual. In some circumstances, restoring hydration and barrier function may be more appropriate before introducing a resurfacing modality. Depending on the skin and treatment programme, Skin Renewal may incorporate carefully selected exfoliating acids, enzymes or other professional renewal techniques.
